CrossFit Absecon recently wrapped up its first "Best Self Challenge", a beginners course for CrossFit training. During the 6 week challenge, 14 participants underwent CrossFit training 3x per week, as well as implementing a nutrition protocol based on their goals. The first day of the camp, athletes weighed in and did a baseline workout where their scores and weights were recorded, as well as their waistline. This test, was to be administered again at the conclusion of the challenge to help determine a winner based on overall improvement of body composition, performance, and commitment to the program.
Over the 6 weeks, their workouts progressively increased in difficulty and intensity as they were gradually exposed to new movements, foundational to CrossFit. Their form improved, their confidence soared, and they all encouraged one another during each and every workout.
We had the pleasure of coaching these 14 individuals over the last 6 weeks, and their results were amazing! Of the 14 that signed up, 9 re took the test at the end and here's what we found:
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS OF 72#
AVERAGE WEIGHT LOSS OF 8# per person
HIGHEST WEIGHT LOSS 22.4#
LOWEST WEIGHT LOSS +4.4# (muscle gain, same person lost 2 inches off waist!)

BASELINE TEST TOTAL TIME IMPROVEMENT (11 minutes : 22 seconds)

HIGHEST IMPROVEMENT (* one athlete couldnt complete the workout the first time, then the second attempt (at the end of the challenge) completed the workout in 8 minutes!)
LOWEST IMPROVEMENT (:36 seconds faster)
Numbers don't lie, and we are very proud of all of those who stuck with the program, followed the eating plan, and made the commitment to themselves to make some changes in their lifestyle!
Although it was a very close race to who would be selected as the winner, based on overall improvement in their baseline numbers, we are happy to announce that Jacqui Wright is the winner of the Best Self Challenge!
Jacqui showed up consistently 3x per week, stuck to the nutrition protocol and worked hard each and every session! With that hard work Jacqui was able to lose 22.4#, 6 1/2 inches off her waist, and shattered her baseline workout by an improvement of almost three minutes! We are very proud of your hard work!
