SPORTS & FITNESS BACKGROUND:
I come from a very sport-centered family. Growing up, I was constantly involved
in team sports like football, baseball, soccer, hockey, and basketball. I played
football for my high school and was a part of a state championship team during
my sophomore year. I've also played intramural volleyball and softball while at
Stockton. I've always been very passionate about sports and hope to become a
coach or CrossFit trainer one day.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES/INTERESTS?
I've always been very passionate about sports and athletics. Not only do I want to
become a Sports Physical Therapist, I'd like to also become a coach and/or trainer
on top of that. I've learned a lot about athletics during the course of my life and
would like to help cultivate the next generation of athletes. Becoming a coach is a
likely for me during my gap year (or years) before beginning PT school.

HOW DID YOU FIRST GET EXPOSED TO CROSSFIT? Take us back to your first WOD.... what was it, anyhow did it feel?
I joined CrossFit in the beginning of 2013 immediately after my senior year of
high-school football. My first CrossFit WOD was some sort of Deadlift followed
by Fran, which I did at CrossFit Mount Laurel. That workout was the most brutal
thing I've done in my life; worse than any conditioning I've ever done for
football. My thrusters were scaled down and were the most uncoordinated thing
you'd ever see. I used just about every resistance band they had for the pull-ups.
I'm pretty sure the workout took me over 15 minutes and I may or may not have
skipped school the next day because I was so sore. My first WOD was an
incredibly humbling experience, to say the least.

"Since starting CrossFit in 2013, I’ve lost about 50 pounds. I became a much better
athlete and became capable of things that I never thought were possible. I never
thought that I would be able to do more than one pull-up, let alone being able to
walk on my hands or do muscle-ups. Besides the appearance changes, I’ve
noticed that I was not getting sick as often and had much more energy throughout
the day. My nagging back and knee pain went away. My asthma also has not been a problem since 2013 as well. Overall, CrossFit has been extremely beneficial to
my physical health.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT IMPACTED YOUR LIFE?
The most unexpected change I experienced through CrossFit was an improvement
in work ethic and personal accountability. Believe it or not, I was a very lazy dude
in high school; I underachieved in both the classroom and on the field. I was
never really driven to work hard or live up to my potential. Becoming a member
of a community that holds each other accountable and expected my best effort
everyday has inspired me to work hard in all facets of my life, not just in the gym.
I started setting high expectations for myself and started holding myself
accountable to reach them.
Please share with us any CrossFit/CrossFit Absecon moments...
I’m going to miss the community events and hangout sessions after the workouts.
The experience at CrossFit Absecon is unlike no other in the world. Believe me,
what we have at this gym is special. It has been a genuine pleasure to be a part of
this community and I will be heartbroken when I have to leave at the end of this semester.
